deliver measurable value through cost optimization, risk mitigation, innovation, supplier performance, and service improvementOversee spend activity, demand planning, and procurement pipelines for assigned technology categories, translating business priorities into annual plans, savings targets, and multi-year roadmapsServe as a strategic advisor to senior business and technology leaders on technology category strategy, market trends, supplier capabilities, commercial models, and value creation opportunitiesCollaborate and engage across functions and regions to identify business requirements, align projected demand, and deliver meaningful business impact through strategic planning, target setting, and action planningLead cross-functional and cross-regional alignment on complex technology sourcing and category decisions that impact enterprise priorities, business continuity, digital transformation, and long-term value creationShape and execute strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned technology categories by leading global cross-functional teams through complex decision-making processesPartner with senior stakeholders across IT, Procurement, Security, Finance, and other business functions to define category priorities and supplier strategies aligned to business and technology objectivesDevelop and drive procurement impact and value delivery through strategic initiatives while monitoring key performance metrics, status of deliverables, and dashboards to inform decision-making and executive reportingEnsure spend above established thresholds is managed strategically and consistently in alignment with procurement policies, governance, and business objectivesCollaborate with Supplier Risk, Inclusion, and Sustainability functions to create scalable and repeatable processes that integrate supplier diversity, responsible procurement, and risk management into the overall category value propositionDrive use of sourcing and procurement best practices, standardization of processes, and continuous improvement initiatives while minimizing supply and operational riskMaintain strong market intelligence across relevant technology domains and work with business teams to inform innovative, win-win supplier strategies that support enterprise and technology goalsProactively identify improvement opportunities across assigned technology categories and influence key stakeholders to prioritize and act on high-impact recommendationsConsolidate spend information into annual operating plans and long-term forecasts for costs, savings targets, pipeline priorities, and planned projectsLead supplier segmentation and relationship strategies in accordance with supplier relationship management standards to strengthen long-term value, resilience, and performanceDrive procurement transformation initiatives across processes, governance, tools, analytics, and ways of working to improve scalability, visibility, and business partnershipBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years' ExperienceORMasters' Degree and Ten Years' ExperienceORPhD and Eight Years' ExperiencePreferred Qualifications:12+ years of professional work experience in a corporate environment, preferably in technology procurement, technology category management, supplier management, corporate strategy, or related functionsSignificant experience leading technology procurement or category management initiatives and working directly with senior business and technology partners to deliver defined scope, budget, and transformation outcomesProven track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards, with deep knowledge of technology markets, supplier landscapes, and industry practicesDemonstrated success developing and executing technology category and sourcing strategies by identifying opportunity areas and delivering measurable business value across complex global spend categoriesProven ability to influence senior leaders and lead global cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed environmentStrong experience building and maintaining strategic supplier relationships and leading supplier performance and segmentation strategiesStrong leadership presence with advanced negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder management experienceExtensive knowledge and experience using procurement and spend systems, data, analytics, and market intelligence to drive strategic decision-makingExperience leading multiple high-impact projects and initiatives simultaneously across a global matrixed organizationDemonstrated ability to translate business strategy into category roadmaps, governance, and measurable enterprise outcomesStrong executive communication skills, including experience preparing dashboards, business cases, recommendations, and updates for senior leadership forumsDemonstrated experience driving change, strengthening Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
