Job Description

Our client is a media company. They seek a Union Payroll Manager to join their Manhattan, NY office.

Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Direct union and freelance payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing
    • \n
  • Collaborate with internal teams and business partners to resolve payroll issues and improve service delivery
    • \n
  • Oversee payroll escalations and implement effective solutions to operational challenges
    • \n
  • Monitor payroll performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvements
    • \n
  • Coordinate payroll schedules to ensure timely submission of required payroll data
    • \n
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, payroll policies, and federal, state, and local regulations
    • \n
  • Train payroll staff on union pay rules, timekeeping systems, and payroll procedures
    • \n
  • Develop standardized payroll processes, documentation, and operating procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
    • \n
  • Foster strong partnerships with HR, IT, Legal, Labor Relations, and other cross-functional teams
    • \n
  • Mentor team members while promoting continuous improvement, employee development, and operational excellence
    • \n

Required

\n
    \n
  • 5+ years of relevant experience leading payroll and related processes for a large volume of employees
    • \n
  • Media/entertainment industry required
    • \n
  • Adept in ambiguous situations, adaptable to changing priorities while effectively managing multiple commitments, at times on tight deadlines
    • \n
  • Strong working knowledge of FLSA, federal, state, and local wage and hour, and tax regulations
    • \n
  • Strategic mindset coupled with the ability and willingness to roll up sleeves where necessary and a desire to improve the status quo constantly
    • \n
  • Demonstrated ability in building and managing highly collaborative and effective teams supporting multiple companies/business units
    • \n
  • Ability to communicate with precision
    • \n
  • Experience with Workday Payroll is a plus
    • \n
