Patient Access Representative

Patient Access Representative Location: 2 Crescent Place, Oceanport, NJ 07757 Job Type: Full-Time, Day Shift. 37.5 hours per week. Pay Range: $21.07 - $26.22 per hour (New Jersey). Travel: Day‑to‑day operations are remote but may require travel within New Jersey. Essential Functions Provides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues, and other external and internal customers. Interviews patients, family members, and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information for scheduling, pre‑registration, and/or registration. Obtains and documents all demographic information to accurately identify the patient. Obtains insurance information, completes insurance verification and authorization status. Ensures all orders/prescriptions have appropriate signatures, correct documentation of diagnosis, patient identifiers, and are linked to the correct encounter. Meets and exceeds department goals including accuracy, point‑of‑service collections, and productivity. Ensures all required forms are provided, reviewed, properly explained, and signed by the patient or an approved proxy. Informs patient of financial responsibility and collects appropriate dollar amount for services to be rendered. Demonstrates proficiency in the entire pre‑admission, registration, and financial clearance processes. Maintains departmental standards of efficiency, accuracy, and productivity. Complies with organizational, facility, and departmental policies. Maintains department productivity by asking for additional duties when patient flow permits. Demonstrates initiative and motivation, proactively identifies and resolves problems, and escalates issues to leadership when necessary. Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude. Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments to foster a team environment. Participates in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in‑services or staff meetings, or by training registration staff outside of the patient access department. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: HS diploma or GED equivalent. Computer skills. Knowledge of Epic HB software. Customer service experience. Medical terminology experience. Preferred: Patient Access experience. Scheduling Requirements Full‑Time, Hourly position – 37.5 hours a week. Day‑to‑day operations are remote but may require New Jersey travel.
