They enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check Special Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated competency in teaching Theatre Demonstrated competency in technical Theatre for all candidates. High school applicants must possess additional skills in Auditorium management, sound, and lighting equipment knowledge. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Student teaching, clinical teaching, teacher residency (preferred) Major Responsibilities and Duties: Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies and administrative regulations. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s). Work cooperatively with Executive Director of Fine Arts, administrators, team leaders, department coordinators, content specialists, and other staff as needed to meet curriculum objectives. Work cooperatively with special education professionals to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and Student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Adhere to all TxETA and UIL policies for One Act Play. Hold at least one quality fall and spring performance. Maintain and build enrollment in the Theatre program. Build the quality of the program as measured by district metrics and UIL results. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
