Title CTE Teacher – Business & Marketing Department Campus Based Reports To Campus Principal Compensation Teacher Pay Scale Days 187 Revised 02/20/2025 Primary Purpose The Teacher participates as a member of the instructional staff in planning for teaching, motivating students, developing classroom climate, managing the classroom, interacting with pupils and evaluating pupils. Minimum Qualifications Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned. (Trade and Industrial Education Grades 6-12 or 8-12 with appropriate work approval) or Texas Administrative Code (TAC) requires that candidates seeking CTE certification based on skill and experience must complete an approved educator preparation program (EPP) A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching OR an Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching OR a High School Diploma or equivalent, five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian experience; your EPP will review for eligibility Plus, valid license is appropriate for the assignment Valid Texas Driver’s License Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee. Experience Two years of wage-earning experience in one or more of the marketing occupations (as defined by TAC §233.14) Three to five years classroom or industry-related experience Experience coordinating SAE plans/projects and competing with students at the regional, state and/or national level (i.e. DECA or BPA) Major Responsibilities and Duties (The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.) Plan the long and short range objectives for assigned courses Develop lesson plans with the appropriate essential elements Collect and use a variety of information to guide the growth and development of individual pupils Maximize amount of time available for instruction Demonstrate effective teaching methods and selects appropriate teaching materials using a variety of activities to develop student interest and performance Establish standards for individual pupils in terms of ability levels Create a classroom climate conducive to pupil intellectual, social, emotional and moral development Manage pupil behavior and activities to allow for learning Communicate effectively with students Evaluate and provides feedback on pupil performance continuously by utilizing a variety of sources to insure mastery of the essential elements Teach for cognitive, affective, and/or psychomotor learning and transfer Maintain accurate student accounting records and other records in compliance with local and state requirements Participate in in-service workshops Participate in extracurricular activities as assigned Plan for and engage in professional development Interact and communicate effectively with parents and school staff Participate in the planning, presentation, and evaluation of various school activities Manage the campus school store by providing students instruction in retail management Supervise and sponsor activities of the appropriately approved CTE student leadership organization Provide students information about post-secondary training programs Seek recommendations, advice, and updated skill methods from advisory committee members by promoting industry/business involvement in the program activities Place students in employment settings according to their interest and qualifications Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job Supervisory Responsibilities Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of the position; however, the supervision of students is required.
