Assistant General Manager (AGM) — Dockside Pub (Swampscott, MA)
Location: Swampscott, MA
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $30–$35/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Flexible; includes days and some nights/weekends as needed. Primary expectation is to cover shifts when the General Manager is not available, including occasional peak shifts.
Dockside Pub is a small, busy, full-service neighborhood restaurant (60–80 seats) focused on great food, great drinks, and genuine hospitality. We're hiring a hands-on Assistant General Manager to help lead daily operations, run excellent shifts, coach the team, and uphold standards—especially when the GM is off.
What You'll Do
- Run the restaurant in the GM's absence: lead shifts, make decisions, and maintain standards
- Lead the floor: pace of service, table touches, guest recovery, and strong communication with BOH
- Coach FOH staff in real time (servers, bartenders, hosts, support) on steps of service, urgency, and teamwork
- Execute opening/closing routines, side work, cleanliness, and organization every shift
- Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training
- Follow and enforce cash handling, POS accuracy, and comps/voids/discount policies
- Assist with inventory organization/spot checks, receiving, and vendor follow-up as needed
- Maintain compliance with MA safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of restaurant leadership experience (AGM/shift manager/strong supervisor)
- Confident floor leader who stays calm under pressure and drives urgency
- Strong communication, reliability, and a guest-first mindset
- Comfortable with POS systems, basic shift reporting, and team coaching
- TIPS certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
