Recruiter I
The Recruiter I is responsible for implementing recruitment strategies that increase girl and adult membership and expand awareness of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) within an assigned geographic area. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this position serves as a community ambassador by building relationships with prospective members, volunteers, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote the value and impact of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
The Recruiter I supports membership growth by conducting community outreach, generating and nurturing leads, facilitating membership opportunities, and connecting girls and volunteers to meaningful Girl Scout experiences. This position collaborates with regional staff, volunteers, schools, businesses, and community partners to increase participation, strengthen community presence, and advance regional membership goals.

The Recruiter I exercises judgment within the scope of assigned responsibilities and collaborates with the Regional Manager on matters impacting membership growth, community engagement, recruitment initiatives, and regional priorities. Through community outreach, lead cultivation, relationship building, and member recruitment activities, this position contributes to positive member experiences and sustainable membership growth.
Recruitment & Membership Growth
- Recruits new girl and adult members within the assigned geographic area to support council membership goals.
- Develops and implements recruitment activities and community outreach efforts that increase awareness of and participation in Girl Scouts.
- Generates, cultivates, and converts membership leads through community engagement, events, referrals, and digital campaigns.
- Recruits and places adult volunteers in troop leadership and other volunteer roles as needed.
- Participates in council-wide membership recruitment campaigns and initiatives throughout the year.
- Identifies opportunities to expand Girl Scout participation in underserved communities and collaborate with internal departments to support service delivery efforts.
- Ensures recruitment activities align with council priorities, funding requirements, and Girl Scout standards.
- Collaborates with membership, volunteer experience, program, and other internal teams to achieve membership goals and create a seamless customer experience.
Community Engagement & Partnership Development
- Establishes, cultivates, and maintains relationships with schools, community organizations, faith-based organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders.
- Represents GSTOP at community events, meetings, recruitment activities, and partnership opportunities.
- Increases Girl Scouts' visibility and positive presence within the community through networking and relationship-building efforts.
- Collaborates with community partners to identify opportunities that support membership growth, volunteer engagement, and program access.
- Provides community insights and feedback to support organizational planning, grant opportunities, and outreach strategies.
- Maintains professionalism and positive relationships in all interactions with members, volunteers, staff, and community stakeholders.
Lead Management & Customer Experience
- Maintains consistent communication with prospective members, volunteers, and community partners through a variety of communication methods.
- Guides prospective members and volunteers through the recruitment and onboarding process to ensure a positive experience.
- Utilizes Salesforce and other systems to document leads, contacts, placements, and communication activities accurately and timely.
- Maintains accurate records and ensures data integrity in all membership and lead management systems.
- Utilizes council reporting tools and available data to monitor progress, identify opportunities, and support recruitment goals.
- Maintains confidentiality when handling member, volunteer, and organizational information.
- Attends required trainings, meetings, conferences, and council events.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications -- Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Associate's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in recruiting, sales, customer service, community engagement, nonprofit outreach, membership development, or a related field.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
- Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
- Membership in Girl Scout organization.

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, community leaders, schools, organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders.

- Experience utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) systems, such as Salesforce, preferred.

- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable technology platforms.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel within the assigned geographic area as required.
- Have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license, an acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.
