Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid or remote Litigation Paralegal role in Phoenix, AZ. This role will be responsible for docketing, calendar management, and moving litigation from filing through settlement, This person knows what's due, makes sure it gets done, and raises it early when it won't. It isn't a supervisor role. It's the person who keeps the whole picture.

Responsibilities

Docketing and calendar

• Own the litigation docket in and keep the calendar accurate and meet deadlines.
• Schedule depositions, mediations and appointments.
• Follow up on docketed deadlines so nothing is missed.
• Prepare complaints, file, and make sure that service is completed.
• File complaints after Bree drafts them, then handle service and file the notice of service.
• Handle Rule 16 and scheduling: proposed case management orders, scheduling conferences and related filings.
• Prepare disclosure statements and draft discovery responses and answers for attorney review.
• Prepare procedural and non-substantive motions.
• Finalize settlements, prepare settlement worksheets and coordinate disbursement of funds.
• Assist in preparing claim forms and periodic reporting for clients receiving benefits.
• Go through the mail and assign the tasks that come out of it.
• Run daily check-ins and know what the team has to focus on before office meetings.
• Keep case statuses current and prepare the weekly reports.
• This is a client-facing role that will make sure clients understand what is going on with their cases. .

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a litigation paralegal with case manager experience.
• Hands-on experience with e-filing in Arizona state and federal court (ECF), service of process, Rule 16 scheduling and disclosure statements.
• Comfortable working in practice-management software (BackDocket or similar) and Microsoft 365.
• Organized and detail-oriented, with follow-through and the confidence to hold people to deadlines.
• Experience with drafting pleadings, including complaints and simple motions
• Federal court experience preferred
• Attention to detail and ability to manage case files efficiently
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Friendly and compassionate

This position is only open to U.S. Residents. Please note that if you are on the East Coast, you would be expected to keep Mountain Daylight Hours.

The company pays for health insurance, with upgraded options available at employee's request. Company contributes 3% to 401K. Wide variety of life and other insurance options at employee's expense. Salary DOE, minimum $60,000, with discretionary bonuses.
