PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fabrication and structural welding of water treatment machinery components.
- Seal welds for large steel tanks used in water treatment.
- Pre weld prep of subcomponents and post weld prep for paint. This will include removal of sharp edges, burrs, weld spatter and slag by means of grinding, chiseling, etc.
- Must be proficient in MIG and TIG welding of carbon and stainless steels.
- Some non-structural welding of carbon and stainless steel.
- Pipe welding.
- Polypropylene welding and plate repair.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process
- Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness.
- Building fixtures and jigs.
- Quality control using fillet gauges and other equipment.
- Operation of saws, drills, etc.
- Operation of forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Promote and contribute to a continuous improvement culture.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensional stack ups.
- Understanding of required welding gasses and wires.
- 5+ years of experience in structural welding of steel components.
- 5+ years of experience in seal welding of steel tanks.
- 5+ years of experience with MIG and TIG welding techniques.
- Weld certifications are preferred for all above requirements.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and specifications.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety toe shoes/boots, and hardhats.
REMOTE WORK
This position cannot be done remotely. It requires working hands-on in the factory.
