Entry Level Process Engineer

Kelly Engineering is seeking an Entry Level Process Engineer to join one of our leading clients in the Chemical Engineering industry located at their Quincy, FL plant. Ideal Candidate: Entry-level engineering background in Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Process or Production Engineering. Manufacturing or plant experience through an internship, co-op, academic project or prior role. Strong analytical skills , including Excel, data validation, Pareto analysis, trend analysis and basic reporting. Continuous-improvement mindset with exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, OEE/UEE, root cause analysis or structured problem-solving. Excellent communication and follow-through , with the ability to work with operators and cross-functional teams, document actions and support training. Position Summary We are seeking an entry-level Manufacturing, Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Process Engineer to support continuous improvement and operational excellence at a manufacturing site. This role will focus on improving the accuracy and use of UEE/OEE production-loss data, identifying recurring equipment and process issues, supporting root cause analysis, tracking corrective actions, and helping develop operator training and work instructions. The engineer will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Training, Quality, EHS, IT/OT and Continuous Improvement teams. Key Responsibilities Review daily production-stop and operational-loss records for accuracy and completeness. Identify and correct data-entry, equipment, duration and loss-category errors. Analyze loss data using Pareto charts, trends, frequency and recurrence analysis. Prepare weekly and monthly reports identifying major equipment and process “bad actors.” Distinguish data-quality issues from confirmed production losses. Recommend priorities for corrective action, training and root cause analysis. Prepare and facilitate basic root cause analysis sessions using tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa and cause-and-effect analysis. Document causes, containment actions, corrective actions, owners and deadlines. Maintain action trackers and follow up on overdue, blocked and at-risk actions. Support operator training related to UEE/OEE data entry, stoppage categorization and standard work. Create or update training materials, quick-reference guides and work instructions. Support Management of Change activities, including action tracking and documentation. Update dashboards, performance boards and operational communications. Maintain accurate, traceable and organized records of analyses, reports, actions and training activities. Escalate data-quality issues, risks, delays and resource constraints to the Continuous Improvement Manager. Required Qualifications BS Degree in Engineering discipline Internship, co-op or academic project experience in manufacturing, production, process improvement or operations preferred. Basic knowledge of data analysis, Pareto charts, trends and spreadsheets. Understanding of production losses, equipment downtime and manufacturing operations. Familiarity with root cause analysis or structured problem-solving methods. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with operators, supervisors and cross-functional teams. Strong organization, follow-up and documentation skills. Willingness and ability to work primarily on-site in a manufacturing environment. Commitment to all site safety, confidentiality, access and EHS requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience with UEE, OEE, MES or manufacturing data systems. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Kaizen training. Experience with Power BI, Excel dashboards or similar reporting tools. Exposure to chemical, process, specialty-chemical or other industrial manufacturing. Familiarity with operator qualification, standard work or work-instruction development. Basic understanding of Management of Change processes. Exposure to maintenance, reliability, equipment troubleshooting or process engineering.
