Medical Device Cleanroom Technician - Sorrento Valley - 1st & 2nd Shifts

The Cleanroom Technician works in a controlled cleanroom environment within the transmitter department to assemble and build continuous glucose monitoring systems. This role focuses on highly manual, repetitive production work on a fast-paced manufacturing line, ensuring products meet strict medical device quality standards. The technician follows detailed build instructions, uses hand tools and production equipment, and supports electronic documentation of manufacturing activities.

Responsibilities

• Work in the cleanroom within the transmitter department to support the production of continuous glucose monitoring systems.
• Assemble and build continuous glucose monitoring systems (G6 Pro) by performing highly manual, step-by-step tasks along a production line.
• Use hand tools and production equipment to complete assembly and build activities according to established procedures.
• Manually pair and attach applicators to transmitter components with precision and consistency.
• Package finished products for shipment to hospitals, following all packaging and labeling requirements.
• Inspect products at each stage of the process to identify defects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Learn and perform each portion of the production line to provide flexible coverage and support across multiple stations.
• Perform line clearances electronically and accurately enter production data into the Camstar application.
• Maintain the required pace of the production line while performing repetitive tasks with consistent quality.
• Follow all work procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) without deviation.
• Support training processes for new team members by demonstrating proper manufacturing techniques and procedures.
• Provide feedback to engineers regarding manufacturing quality processes and opportunities for improvement.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and adhere to all cleanroom protocols and restrictions.
• Collaborate closely with other team members on the manufacturing floor while maintaining focus and minimizing side chatter in a loud environment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 4 years of medical device manufacturing experience.
• Previous experience performing manufacturing duties and responsibilities in a cleanroom environment.
• Hands-on experience in production, assembly, and manufacturing operations.
• Ability to perform precise medical assembly work following detailed build instructions.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing quality processes within a regulated environment.
• Ability to follow all work procedures, SOP, GMP, and GDP requirements without deviation.
• Comfort working with hand tools and production equipment in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable wearing full PPE and working continuously in a cleanroom setting.
• High attention to detail and ability to consistently identify defects during inspection.
• Ability to maintain a steady pace on a repetitive production line while sustaining accuracy and quality.
• Strong data entry skills to accurately record information in electronic systems such as the Camstar application.
• Effective communication skills to assist in training new team members and provide feedback to engineers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing line.
• Familiarity with continuous glucose monitoring systems or other medical devices.
• Experience working under strict cleanroom protocols, including adherence to PPE and contamination control requirements.
• Ability to adapt to working in a cold, temperature-controlled environment.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime, including starting shifts up to two hours early when needed.
• Comfort working in close proximity to other employees on a production floor.
• Strong reliability and consistent work tenure in previous roles.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cleanroom environment on a manufacturing floor, working Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The initial assignment is for approximately six months, with the possibility of extension. The position involves working on a production line in a loud, fast-paced, and highly repetitive setting, in very close proximity to other employees. The cleanroom and manufacturing floor are temperature controlled and kept cold. Employees must wear a full cleanroom suit provided on-site, including mask, goggles, gloves, hair net, shoe covers, full bunny suit, and head cover. Strict cleanroom protocols apply: no makeup, jewelry, piercings, fake nails, or nail polish are allowed on the manufacturing floor. Overtime is not mandatory but is preferred, with typical overtime occurring up to two hours before the regular shift start time.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
