Marine Piping Systems Journeyman Fitter

Compensation: $52 per hour and $180 day per diem

A Day in the Yard

Start your shift by reviewing system drawings and layouts, selecting the right materials—steel, galvanized pipe, copper, copper‑nickel, and stainless steel—and planning the most efficient installation path. You’ll measure, cut, and fit runs with precision, aligning and securing piping to spec. As the day progresses, you’ll place valves and fittings per blueprints, verify tolerances with measuring tools, and coordinate with teammates to keep production on schedule across shifts. All of this happens in an active shipyard where heights, tight quarters, and changing weather are part of the job—and where safety is the first and last step of every task.

What You’ll Work On

• Fit and install marine piping systems using steel, galvanized, copper, copper‑nickel, and stainless materials.
• Interpret drawings, arrangements, and blueprints to place valves, fittings, and related components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment to ensure accurate fit, alignment, and secure installation.
• Operate effectively in shipyard conditions: at heights, in confined spaces, and in variable weather.
• Collaborate with teams across multiple shifts to meet vessel construction timelines.
• Maintain rigorous safety practices and housekeeping in every workspace.

What You Bring

• Hands‑on pipefitting experience in marine, industrial, or petro‑chemical settings.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and system layouts.
• Proficiency installing diverse piping materials, valves, and components.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.

Must Have

• 3 yrs of marine, industrial or petro‑chemical pipefitting experience
