The Commodity Buyer will be responsible for purchasing supplies and managing assigned commodities and services and assisting customers with inventory and service requests in Aim. Assigned commodities and services can include but will not be limited to, Carpentry, Custodial, Electrical, HVAC, Office and Plumbing Supplies and services, Hardware, Lighting. Responsibilities will include order placement, inventory management, Supplier Selection and Management and Environmental Stewardship (Sustainability). The Commodity Buyer will also be responsible for analyzing their assigned commodities and identifying opportunities to streamline and reduce cost. Job Duties Ordering - Review backorders daily and follows up on late orders. Vendor relations - Utilizes knowledge of vendors and their offerings to make vendor recommendations. Ensures that State or CSU awarded sources are used and that there are secondary sources for critical commodities. Stocking - Understands and utilizes ABC analysis to determine stocking levels to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory. Sustainability - Identifies opportunities to support Colorado State University sustainability initiatives through purchasing green or energy efficient products and services. OR Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or experience working within supply chain management services or logistics of which may include purchasing services, inventory management, and vendor relations equal to three (3) years.
