Proposal Manager

We are working with a leading AEC firm seeking an experienced Proposal Manager to join their fast-paced Marketing + Communications team. In this role, you will lead proposal development for our largest and most complex pursuits across all office locations, with a focus on new growth markets. You’ll also mentor and advise a team of proposal coordinators throughout the full proposal life cycle and assist in hiring and onboarding new team members.

The ideal candidate is motivated, organized, a creative thinker, and brings excellent written and verbal communication skills along with a strong command of AEC proposal processes and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of high-quality A/E proposals, qualification documents, and presentations for the firm’s most complex and high-profile pursuits.
• Coordinate shortlist presentations, including content development, rehearsal facilitation, and presentation coaching.
• Advise, mentor, and support a team of proposal coordinators throughout the proposal lifecycle, including QA/QC reviews on key pursuits.
• Attend kickoff and strategy meetings; coordinate with technical staff, executives, and teaming partners to gather and refine content.
• Manage team assignments, workload distribution, and ongoing training on proposal best practices.
• Conduct competitor analysis, peer reviews, and proposal debriefs; document and share lessons learned to continuously improve win rates.
• Uphold brand and proposal standards while driving process improvements for greater efficiency.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Business, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
• 10+ years of proposal development experience in the AEC industry, including submissions to state departments of transportation and similar public agencies.
• Proficient in Deltek Vision (or similar CRM), Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Excellent copywriting skills with the ability to translate technical content for broader audiences.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15%.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of AEC proposal experience with multi-state agency submissions.
• Proficiency in Deltek Vision.

Salary: $90,000-$135,000
