Golf Course Grounds Foreman

Glenview Golf Course 10965 Springfield Pike Cincinnati, OH 45246, USA Position Summary The Groundskeeping Foreman reports directly to the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent. Responsibilities include equipment operation, irrigation repair and operation, crew supervision and inspecting golf course conditions. Responsibilities Occasionally supervise a small labor force for special projects and perform other duties as directed by supervision. Report golf course conditions to the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent. Open the maintenance shop and run operations in the absence of the superintendent or assistant superintendent. Repair and ensure proper operation of the irrigation system as needed; water greens, tees and fairways. Aerify greens; verticut, mow tees and greens; spike greens; operate sod cutter, spray rig for greens and fertilizer spreaders; mow rough with rotary mower and operate other equipment as directed. Ensure a safe work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid driver’s license. Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment. Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems. Knowledge of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf. Willingness to learn. Strong work ethic and self‑driven. Dependable and reliable. Ability to work carefully and ensure co‑workers are operating safely. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions. Working Conditions Regularly required to reach, use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; stand, walk, balance, stoop, twist upper body, kneel, and climb occasionally. Physical Demands Lift or move up to 30 lbs occasionally. Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Exposure to moderate to loud noise, extreme cold, heat, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, pollen, dust, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards. Work extended hours during golf and holiday season; work weekends and holidays.
