Staff Accountant

A real estate company in Chicago is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team. This hybrid Staff Accountant position offers a competitive salary of up to $80,000 and provides an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative accounting team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys financial analysis, month-end close responsibilities, and partnering with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Mack & Associates offers benefits including medical, PTO, and 401(k). Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant: Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and general ledger adjustments. Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Prepare financial reports, analyze account activity, and investigate variances to support management decision-making. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice review, payment processing, and monitoring outstanding balances. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning by tracking trends and comparing actual results to projections. Maintain accurate financial records while assisting with audit preparation and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete ad hoc reporting, improve accounting processes, and support day-to-day accounting operations. Qualifications of the Staff Accountant: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required. Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close processes. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and other reporting functions. Experience with accounting software; Sage Intacct experience is a plus. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
