Nursing Services Support (OSHW) - Part-time/Temporary Position

Primary Location Central-42 West Madison Street (Office of Student Health & Wellness) Overtime Status Non-exempt Job Summary Chicago Public Schools utilizes temporary part-time seasonal support in school-based, network, and central office positions. This Nursing Services Support (OSHW) – Part-time/Temporary position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 20 hours per week for an anticipated period of 9 months beginning October 1 2023 and ending June 30 2024. Due to the part‑time/temporary nature of this work, this is not a benefit‑eligible position. This role will report to the Executive Director of School Nursing. This Nursing Services Support (OSHW) – Part-time/Temporary position requires reliable workers who are able to provide support for nursing services as it pertains to back‑to‑school deployment and staffing support. Responsibilities Order and monitor inventory levels for nursing supplies Use spreadsheets for supply inventory and distribution Register and check in/out during large‑volume training sessions for the nursing team Request, inventory, distribute, and reconcile computer equipment for nursing Copy, package, and distribute training materials Send a high volume of correspondence through Google Docs or Gmail Maintain files and scan documents Answer and direct high‑volume calls and/or emails Duties to support nursing operations Educational Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred Experience Required Minimum of 1 year of clerical, administrative, or office duty experience required Experience with clerical or administrative duties in a healthcare setting preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be organized, efficient, with attention to detail Ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment to meet deadlines Handles sensitive information and maintains a high level of confidentiality Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Google applications Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with high levels of hospitality and professionalism Dependable Physical Requirements Medium Work: Exerting five (5) to fifty (50) pounds to move objects. Conditions of Employment Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency – Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part‑time positions; however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois. Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID‑19 – Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up‑to‑date on COVID‑19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. “Up‑to‑date” on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
