Key Responsibilities of the SMH Level 1 RN Psych ER

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients
• Make nursing diagnosis of patients' medical and emotional status
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff on treatment plans
• Administer and monitor reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications
• Arrange further medical attention as necessary
• Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients
• Test for vital signs of pain and ensure pain treatments
• Document patient information on medical charts
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate records of patient treatments
• Perform administrative tasks and respond to service requests

Requirements of the SMH Level 1 RN Psych ER

• NY License ONLY
• BLS Certification (AHA) ONLY
• Telemetry
• Minimum 2 years of experience
