The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Engineering Services – Specifications team. Under the supervision of the Director, the successful candidate will evaluate the appropriate and most cost-effective foundation support system, and the bearing capacity of shallow and deep foundations. Other key responsibilities include performing geotechnical studies/projects in subsurface investigations; soil/foundation engineering; pile analysis and design; retaining walls; bridge structures; settlement analysis; lateral earth pressures; and slope stability. Additionally, the Geotechnical Engineer will perform forensic engineering; site investigations; write reports; and provide geotechnical engineering support during construction. Please note: All candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.). In compliance with Public Law 99-603, candidates are required to present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. DDC is unable to support or sponsor any visa application or visa extension, including but not limited to OPT/STEM visas, H-1B visas, F-1 practical training, permanent residence sponsorship, or any proposed change of visa type. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer. 2. Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.Preferred SkillsPlease note the following preferred skills for this position: 1. Candidates must have at least six years' experience in geotechnical engineering 2. Must have robust supervision experience. 3. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. 4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. 5. Knowledge relevant to infrastructure construction work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main) 6. Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards 7. Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices 8. Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling. (Optional) 9. Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (Preferred) 10. Valid driver's license (Required) 11.
