Anesthesia Technician I - Surgery - Full Time 8 Hour Nights (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Overview The Anesthesia Technician I provides technical support for anesthesia services related to supportive anesthesia care within Perioperative Services, and ancillary departments as needed, to facilitate the smooth flow of surgical or special procedures. Responsibilities Clean, sterilize, disinfect, order/stocks and maintain routine anesthesia equipment and supplies. Maintain anesthesia medications, supplies and equipment according to needs and schedules. Clean, organize and maintain anesthesia workroom, supplies and equipment. Prepare and maintain patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra and post anesthesia with consideration and knowledge of age‑specific issues related to meeting the needs of the various patient groups. Perform basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defective equipment and equipment malfunctions appropriately/immediately. Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Document and maintain preventative maintenance and quality records, including equipment, supplies, and all other activities in the department. Assist with transport of patients, laboratory specimens, and pick up blood as necessary. Assist with setting up invasive and non‑invasive monitoring and ventilator equipment in OR’s & PACU as needed. Operate Steris machine to sterilize equipment and keep records according to policy. Perform other related duties as assigned. Travel between facilities or other treatment locations as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1 year experience as an anesthesia technician in an acute care setting. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients. Preferred Qualifications Specialized/technical training as a graduate of an American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) approved program. Certified Anesthesiology Technician (ASATT). Required Licenses / Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (Required within LA City only).
