GIS QA/QC Specialist (Utilities ArcGIS/ArcMap) Candidate must be authorized to work in the USA without requiring sponsorship. Location: Brooklyn, NY 11217 Duration: 6‑month contract with the possibility of extensions Work Details Work Schedule: Hybrid (anticipated 3 days onsite, 2 days remote; subject to confirmation) Interview Process: 2‑step interview – 1 MS Teams call, 1 in‑person Work Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Responsibilities Perform multiple queries to validate the accuracy of legacy mapping data migrated to an ESRI mapping system. Review land base symmetry, connectivity at structures, and ensure cable connectivity is intact. Check attribute data of all linear and point features for electric and gas components. Perform map symbology updates and provide symbology solutions as necessary. Lead testing efforts for vendor deliverables, including factory acceptance, system acceptance, and user acceptance testing, ensuring vendor‑provided solutions meet the specified requirements. Advocate for the customer throughout the testing process, ensuring GIS solutions meet user expectations and collaborate with development teams to address feedback and enhance system usability. Conduct thorough reviews of project documentation related to test plans and execution; offer insightful comments and provide approval. Utilize Azure DevOps or other testing software for effective test planning, execution, and reporting, maintaining testing documentation and artifacts. Demonstrate decisiveness in signing off on testing‑related requirements and planning documentation to ensure alignment with project goals. Assist in other projects as the need arises. Develop a basic understanding of the mapping systems, company mapping processes, documents, and related software programs. Develop the ability to read various types of electrical and gas maps. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Proficient GIS experience, with at least 2 years of experience using ESRI ArcMap. Knowledge of MXD building, spatial queries, and spatial analysis. Experience within the utility environment. Self‑starter, highly motivated, attentive, and initiative‑driven. Quick learner capable of carrying tasks to completion with minimum supervision. Strong analytical and organizational skills; proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
