Environmental GIS Analyst - Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, OK Colorado State University - Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands Job Type: Contractor Remote/ Telework Option: Hybrid Pay Range: $60,000 - $65,000 Job Status: 40 hr Job Description A Environmental GIS Analyst position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). The duty location is full time at Tinker AFB and the position also serves Altus AFB, Little Rock AFB, and Vance AFB. This position will require travel, up to a week at a time, to supported Air Force Bases. This position will be responsible for data development and data maintenance for all environmental GIS data. This includes but is not limited to incorporating data from disparate sources, applying quality control checks, and standardizing data to the SDSFIE. The individual will also be responsible for providing GIS support to the Air Force environmental programs. This includes but is not limited to cartographic support, data requests, and data analysis. This position will engage with Air Force environmental Program Managers and staff at all supported bases on a routine basis. This includes but is not limited to collaborating on projects, providing status updates, and presenting to small groups. The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by the proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Work location is dependent on the needs of the partner/project/role. In some instances, positions may require staff to be fully in-person. In other instances, hybrid or remote arrangements may be possible. Requirements Required Qualifications Minimum of a BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field. At least three years of demonstrated GIS work experience (coursework not included). Experience with environmental-related GIS, Esri’s ArcGIS software, and cartography. Proven experience applying spatial data standards, data development, and data maintenance. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with initiative to resolve issues. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to pass a DoD federal background check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Willingness to travel (up to 1 week, at least 2 times per year to each remotely located Air Force Base). Ability to conduct fieldwork, including walking long distances in adverse terrain/weather while carrying up to 45 lbs. of equipment. Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain by start date). Must be eligible to work in the United States by the proposed start date (CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship). Work location may vary based on project needs and could require in-person, hybrid, or remote arrangements. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a highly structured organization. Knowledge of military instructions, directives, guidance, and environmental regulations/processes. Experience with: U.S. Air Force GeoBase program Geospatial documentation and metadata Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) International Organization Standardization (ISO) or Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standards Disseminating information to stakeholders and external entities Field data collection using GPS equipment and post-processing of data Existing National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) clearance highly desired. Job Duties The GIS Analyst will support environmental management at four U.S. Air Force Bases by developing, maintaining, and quality-checking GIS data in accordance with SDSFIE standards. The position provides cartographic products, data requests, and analysis while working closely with Air Force environmental Program Managers to review data and provide updates. Duties also include collecting and evaluating spatial and aspatial data from diverse sources, performing GPS fieldwork, rectifying aerial imagery, and digitizing features. The role requires periodic travel (approximately two trips per year to each remotely located base) for project updates, data review, and on-site GIS support. In addition, the GIS Analyst will complete monthly reporting requirements. Key Duties Develop and maintain environmental GIS data for four U.S. Air Force Bases, ensuring compliance with SDSFIE standards, metadata requirements, and QC checks. Provide GIS support including cartography, data requests, and data analysis. Consult regularly with Air Force environmental Program Managers and staff, reviewing data and providing updates. Collect and evaluate spatial and aspatial data, perform GPS fieldwork, rectify aerial imagery, and digitize features. Travel periodically (about twice per year per remote base) for project updates, GIS data reviews, and support.
