The City of Chesapeake is seeking applications for the position of Budget Analyst. While experience in local government budgeting is preferred, this position is also open to early-career professionals. The ideal candidate demonstrates intellectual curiosity, strong analytical abilities, and the initiative to work independently to develop solutions to complex challenges. The Budget Analyst will join a talented and innovative Budget team in a city recognized for its stability and effective management. The Budget Department partners with more than 40 City departments to develop an annual operating budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) totaling more than $2 billion. This position provides the opportunity to build strong relationships with assigned departments and make data-driven recommendations to support City leadership. A bachelor's degree in public administration, economics, public finance, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.
