We are seeking a Front/Back Office Medical Assistant who will be responsible for providing clinical and patient care support duties for our San Luis Obispo office. This position requires flexibility to provide coverage at our San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, and Lompoc offices as needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable to different office environments, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care while maintaining efficient clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Clinical Support:

• Prepare patient exam rooms and room patients.
• May assist physicians or healthcare providers during exams, minor procedures, and treatments.
• Prepare biopsy specimens and ensure they are sent to the Lab.
• Provide patients with post-procedure care documents.

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Schedule patient appointments and confirm appointments and follow-up visits.
• Update and maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Handle patient inquiries.
• Ensure that all necessary documentation, including consent forms and medical histories, is complete and accurate.
• Check patient eligibility and benefits.
• Assist with authorizations and referrals.
• Sterilize medical equipment using the autoclave.

Inventory and Supplies Management:

• Ensure proper stocking of medical supplies and equipment at each location, coordinating with staff to manage inventory.
• Maintain proper disposal of medical waste, adhering to health and safety guidelines at each location.

Coordination and Communication:

• Work closely with healthcare teams to ensure smooth workflow and patient care.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring that patient needs are met promptly and efficiently.
• Adapt quickly to clinic environment, protocols, and procedures, providing seamless support to the healthcare team.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and infection control practices.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and other legal regulations.
• Follow all clinic-specific policies, procedures, and standards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

Travel and Flexibility:

• Be flexible with hours and shifts depending on patient volume and clinic hours.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance. Reliable transportation for travel between healthcare facilities if requested/required.
• 1-2 years previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is highly desirable.
• Must be bilingual in Spanish/English.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office). Knowledge of ezDerm is highly desireable.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks across multiple locations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate flexibility, and adapt to different clinic environments.
