Location: Department of Correction, Davidson County. This position requires a criminal background check. Applicants may be required to provide information about their criminal history to be considered. Overview The Regional Training Officer (Training Officer 1) will report to the Statewide Training Manager (Training Officer 2) at the Tennessee Department of Correction Central Office (DCCO). Regional training officers for each grand division of the state (East, Middle, West) are responsible for Community Supervision and Rehab Services staff training. This position is responsible for East TN. Responsibilities Create and implement regional training schedules Document and maintain all training records for regional staff Create learning management system person records and enroll staff in training Partner with Human Resources and work location staff for onboarding purposes Partner with contract staff for their training needs Earn Department of Human Resources (DOHR) facilitator and Tennessee Correctional Academy (TCA) Adjunct facilitator certifications and facilitate a variety of classes Ensure adherence to all training mandates Assess training records and communicate gaps/deficiencies with staff Participate in training audits Provide ongoing communication regarding training information and support Participate in training material and training policy review, development, and updates Facilitate training needs assessment and training plan as mandated Monitor training feedback surveys and efforts for regional training events Participate in action planning work from the various feedback mechanisms Support firearms documentation through tracking, scheduling, and notification of required firearms proficiency Partner with Talent Management (TM) regarding TM initiatives Use technology, Microsoft Office Suite, Acadis, and others for training needs Competencies (KSA's) Communicates Effectively Instills Trust Decision Quality Customer Focus Resourcefulness Knowledge Clerical Customer and Personal Service Tools & Equipment Personal Computer, Multi-Function Printer, Calculator Projectors, Projector Screens, Interactive Whiteboards Television, Speaker Systems, Video and Still Cameras Telephone Systems Laminator, Binding Machines Qualifications Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to two years of full-time professional work in one or a combination of the following: academic teaching; educational administration; development of instructional materials for academic programs; or training. Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate course work in one or a combination of the following may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years: (1) Human Resources Management; (2) Industrial/Organizational Psychology; (3) any field related to the design or evaluation of curriculum and related instructional processes, including, but not limited to Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational/Instructional Media Design, Educational Evaluation, Research, and Statistics (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours may be substituted for one year of required experience). Substitution of Experience for Education: Any teaching or training experience, or any remaining professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years. Substitution for Specialized Experience: Four years of full-time professional work in the subject matter of instruction may be substituted for the two years of specialized experience. Applicant must successfully become certified as a facilitator by the Department of Human Resources within six months of hire. Or one year of professional experience in delivering workforce training with the State of Tennessee.
