Location: Seattle, WA 98144 (On-site)

Position Type: Full-Time Contract (~921 Hours / ~23 Weeks)

Pay Rate: $23.00 - $25.00 / hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday | Choice of 5/8 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) or 4/10 (7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, variable days). 1-hour lunch.

Dress Code: Scrubs

The Phlebotomist is responsible for accurately drawing and collecting blood and specimen samples, processing laboratory testing, maintaining quality control, and performing core clerical tasks. Working under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, this role serves as a vital clinical resource for medical staff while providing exceptional care to patients. Candidates can expect a high volume of up to 20 blood draws per day.

• Specimen Collection & Processing: Perform accurate and timely blood draws; collect, process, label, and safely store patient specimens following clinical protocols.

• Laboratory Testing: Independently perform waived and moderate-complexity testing, including microscopic analysis of urine sediment, vaginal wet mounts, fungal exams, and ferning tests.

• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Perform, evaluate, and document QA/QC tests. Ensure full adherence to guidelines established by DOH, CLIA, AAAHC, OSHA, and API.

• Safety & Environment: Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials. Maintain a clean, orderly laboratory space by managing inventory, stocking supplies, and removing expired items.

• Staff Collaboration & Training: Act as a subject-matter resource for clinical staff regarding collection and lab processing techniques. Assist with training medical staff as needed.

• Quality Improvement & Administration: Follow alert notification procedures, process billing rejections from contract laboratories, and participate in internal quality improvement (QI) initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

• Certifications: Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P) or Phlebotomist Technician Certification in the State of Washington.

• Experience: Minimum of 6 months of hands-on phlebotomy/lab experience.

• Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and inter-professional communication skills; highly accountable and collaborative.

• Preferred: Prior experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health setting.

• Annual Pay Increases: Opportunity for a 3-5% pay increase per year.
