Interpretation will be provided in person or by telephone in compliance with National Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, Brigham and Women's Hospital policies and procedures, and Interpreter Services guidelines to ensure patient safety and access to quality care.Does this position require Patient Care?YesEssential FunctionsResponsible for answering requests effectively and in a timely manner for face to face or telephone interpretations for all types of encounters throughout the hospital with priority given to emergency and urgent requests.Interprets and transmits accurately and in understandable terms, complex medical information from mediQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required and Associate's Degree preferredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?NoLicenses and CredentialsExperienceFluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, requiredPrior training of medical terminology and interpreting skills preferredTwo years of healthcare related experience in a position of direct patient contact preferredKnowledge of culture-specific care.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStaff adheres to all I C.A.R.E.
