Shift 11am-7:30pm with call Location Singing River Pascagoula Hospital Job Description Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional who assists patients to attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The RN provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. As such, performance evaluation is based on these standards. Education Graduate from the NLN School of Nursing. License Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi. Certifications All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. RNs working in the following specialty areas are required to complete and maintain the listed certifications within 12 months of starting the specialty area (and 18 months for TNCC in the Emergency Department). Cath Lab – ACLS Cardiac Rehab – ACLS Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC Intensive Care Units – ACLS Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) Medical Nursing – OB/GYN - PALS Nursery – NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) Pediatrics – PALS PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS Experience A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience is preferred, within the past five (5) years, or evidence of a successful refresher program. Reports To Patient Care Manager Supervises LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians Physical Demands Work is moderately active, involving sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office and the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. The job involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves many physical motions in daily activities; exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues that may carry infectious disease. Repetitive motions include substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment such as a computer keyboard. The RN must be physically active for extended periods without undue fatigue and accommodate schedule changes according to hospital needs. Mental Demands Must demonstrate keen mental faculties for assessment and decision making, superior communication skills, both verbal and written, with emotional stability for high stress levels, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, attention to detail, and ability to multi‑task in complex situations. Must maintain collaborative and respectful relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations. Special Demands Must possess superior customer service skills, professional etiquette, proficiency in computer use (keyboard proficient), and other office technology including telephone, fax, MS Outlook and Word.
