Position Summary

The Supply Chain Planning & Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end planning and procurement functions that ensure Royal Pet has the right products, materials, packaging, and inventory available to meet customer demand while maximizing operational efficiency and profitability.

This role oversees demand planning, inventory management, procurement, replenishment, supplier relationships, global sourcing, and production planning support. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance, this leader ensures a reliable, cost-effective, and resilient supply chain that supports growth and exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, highly organized, and experienced in managing both international manufacturing partners and domestic suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities

Supply Chain Planning

• Develop and maintain demand forecasts using historical sales, customer forecasts, promotions, seasonality, and market trends.
• Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align demand, supply, and inventory.
• Balance customer service objectives with inventory investment and manufacturing capacity.
• Identify supply risks and implement contingency plans.

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

• Purchase raw materials, packaging, ingredients, finished goods, and indirect materials.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, payment terms, and supplier agreements.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing and supplier partnerships.
• Maintain accurate purchasing data, pricing, and supplier information within the ERP system.
• Develop sourcing strategies that improve cost, quality, reliability, and supply continuity.

Inventory Planning & Replenishment

• Establish inventory policies including safety stock, reorder points, minimum/maximum levels, and economic order quantities.
• Monitor inventory performance to reduce stockouts, excess inventory, and obsolete materials.
• Optimize inventory turns while maintaining high customer service levels.
• Analyze inventory trends and recommend improvements.

Global Supplier & Factory Management

• Manage relationships with overseas manufacturing partners throughout Asia and domestic suppliers across North America.
• Coordinate production schedules, purchase orders, and delivery timelines with international factories.
• Monitor supplier capacity, production status, and potential supply chain disruptions.
• Work closely with overseas factories on new product launches, packaging changes, product improvements, and engineering updates.
• Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers to ensure efficient international transportation and import compliance.
• Develop supplier scorecards measuring quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
• Establish dual-sourcing and business continuity strategies for critical products and materials.
• Build long-term strategic partnerships with suppliers through regular business reviews and performance improvement initiatives.

Production Planning Support

• Ensure materials are available to support manufacturing schedules.
• Coordinate closely with Production Planning to maintain uninterrupted operations.
• Resolve material shortages and supplier issues before they impact production.
• Support capacity planning and long-range production requirements.

New Product Commercialization

• Partner with Product Development and Marketing to successfully launch new products.
• Coordinate supplier readiness, packaging availability, raw material sourcing, inventory planning, and production timing.
• Manage inventory transitions during product changes, packaging revisions, and product discontinuations.

Supply Chain Analytics & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor key performance indicators and identify opportunities to improve service, inventory, cost, and supplier performance.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across planning, purchasing, inventory, and supplier management.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for supply chain planning and procurement.
• Utilize ERP systems and business intelligence tools to support data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, procurement, purchasing, inventory management, demand planning, or sourcing.
• Experience working with international manufacturers, particularly suppliers and factories throughout Asia.
• Experience managing domestic supplier relationships.
• Manufacturing or consumer packaged goods experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
