Position Overview


A well-established litigation firm in San Diego is seeking a Business Litigation Associate Attorney with 2-6+ years of experience to join its growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to gain hands-on litigation experience while representing businesses, corporations, and individuals in a broad range of complex commercial disputes. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal writing and analytical skills, thrive in a collaborative environment, and be comfortable managing cases through all phases of litigation.


Key Responsibilities

• Handle a diverse caseload involving complex business and commercial litigation matters including fraud, breach of contract, fiduciary duty, trade secret, unfair competition, defamation, shareholder and partnership disputes, corporate governance, non-compete agreements, and bankruptcy adversary proceedings.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda.
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive dispositive motions.
• Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Participate in court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
• Manage all aspects of discovery, including document review and production.
• Collaborate with partners and clients to develop litigation strategy.
• Maintain direct client communication while managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (required).
• Active membership in the California State Bar and in good standing.
• 2-8+ years of business or commercial litigation experience.
• Experience handling cases through all phases of litigation.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience taking or defending depositions is preferred.
• Trial preparation experience is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
