North American Concessions in Chicago, IL is looking for Cooks to join our strong team. We are located within Midway Airport. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and reliable.
Position Summary: The Cook is passionate about cuisine, pays attention to detail, has strong work ethic and eager to learn. Line cooks work in a fast-paced environment ensuring that all menu items are cooked, plated and taste to company standards.
Essential Functions:
- Follow all prescribed portioning controls and par levels
- Prepare menu items according to prescribed recipes and/or special requests
- Available to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends
- Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives
- Maintain food safety and quality standards
- Ability to cook burgers to different temperatures per the customer’s requests
- Ability to read a thermometer correctly and efficiently
- Communicate any food delays or issues to management
- Maintain menu item counts and communicate to Management and service staff when quantities fall below restaurant specific minimum quantity
- Accurately account for all items coming out of the station
- Responsible for daily upkeep and cleaning of equipment. This includes, but is not limited to; sweeping/scrubbing floors, degreasing/cleaning the stove and oven air vent, and degreasing the deep fryer.
- Menu knowledge ie; being able to explain items in detail to customers and suggesting/upselling food and drink pairings.
- Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
- Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Responsible for proper rotation of products
- Responsible for daily upkeep and cleaning of equipment
- Follow all rules, policies, procedures, and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Get along well with others and be a team player
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager
Qualifications:
- Proven working experience as a cook
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively
- Experience in cooking custom items to order specifications
- Ability to prepare all sauces and marinades for Hot Rice Bowl Station (Arami)
- Must be able to prep throughout the shift
- Recommends new items to Chef
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be able to cook anything on the menu
- Ability to plan the person’s shift responsibilities, ie; when to clean, organize, and restock
- Maintain constant stock of necessary items
- Must be able to obtain food safety certifications, i.e., Food Handler’s, & Allergens
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of up to 40 lbs.
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have the ability to get badged by The Chicago Department of Aviation, which includes a federal background check, as well as maintaining the badge.
· Must be able to uphold all CDA and TSA regulations related to safety and security

Health Insurance, Dental Insurance and Vision Insurance are offered after employees pass their 90-day probationary period, and if elected, it will begin on the first day of the month following the passage of the probationary period.
PTO (Paid Time Off): Employees will receive 80 hours of PTO after accruing a full year of full-time service. Employees are permitted to begin using accrued PTO time after they work a minimum of six (6) months. PTO will increase at the five (5) year mark and at the ten (10) year mark.
Paid Sick Time : Employees receive 40 hours of Paid Sick Time per year and they are permitted to start using it after they pass their 90-day probationary period.
