Westbrook Middle School is searching for an energetic, positive science teacher to join our seventh grade team for the 2026-2027 school year.


We are searching for a dynamic, collaborative educator who has extensive knowledge and practice in designing and implementing a science program aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards as well as Maine and Westbrook Learning Standards. They will join other science educators across the school and district in developing innovative science pathways. They will also be a part of a four person, interdisciplinary grade level team who support the needs of a diversity of learners who provide relevant learning opportunities with an emphasis on real-world and hands-on experiences.


Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in math and/or science to students in grade 7
• Use data to inform instructional decisions and support student growth
• Collaborate with grade-level teams to support student learning, behavior, and well-being
• Communicate proactively with families and maintain accurate records in the gradebook
• Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and team meetings

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Maine educator certification required or anticipated by start date
• Eligible for Maine certification in at least one of the following:
  • Mathematics (300) and/or Science (340) under Middle Level Teacher (5 8) or Secondary Teacher (6 12)
  • Elementary Teacher (020) K 8 endorsement (credential held prior to Chapter 115 revisions)
• Experience working with middle school students preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
