Our South Sound area growing $30M client is looking for a construction Controller. This is an opportunity to be the #1 finance and accounting position, leading an experienced team. Position Summary Reporting to the owner, the Controller is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for directing the organization’s accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and forecasting functions. This role plays a critical part in supporting strategic decision-making by providing financial insight and driving process improvements across all finance‑related functions. Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation and presentation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Develop and document month‑end processes, check lists, and dashboard. Automate workflows and scale organization. Oversee the company’s accounting operations, including the general ledger, job cost tracking, and financial reporting. Analyze financial data and provide insight on trends, risks, and opportunities. Develop and maintain internal control policies, procedures, and systems. Accountants Receivable and Payable oversight Supervise and develop finance/accounting team members through mentorship, performance management, and ongoing training. Evaluate department structure and staffing to support the company’s growth and scalability. Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration between the accounting department and project teams to ensure alignment and financial accuracy. Implement Trimble Spectrum/Viewpoint Spectrum and reliable WIP reporting. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3–5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role, preferably in construction, engineering, or a project‑based industry. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Spectrum, QuickBooks Enterprise, Vista, Foundation, Sage, or other construction‑oriented platforms).
