Adjunct Faculty, Department of Psychology

Position Overview Adjunct Faculty – Psychology at Kean University, Union Campus, New Jersey. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, including General Psychology, Statistics, Tests and Measurements, Research Methods, and specialty areas such as Physiological, Industrial & Organizational, and Forensic Psychology. Responsibilities Deliver course instruction for assigned classes, meeting all curriculum and assessment requirements. Provide 1 hour of availability outside of class for each 3 or 4-credit class per week; 30 minutes for each additional class. Offer at least 30 minutes of weekly availability for adjuncts teaching fewer than 3 credits. Maintain office hours as needed beyond the minimum availability requirements, either in person or virtually. Assist in the development and continual improvement of course materials and assessments. Use the Learning Management System consistently with university guidelines. Qualifications Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field. Teaching experience at a college or university level, unless an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate is held. Proficiency in a Learning Management System. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Compensation & Benefits Pay is $2,100 per credit for the first semester taught (effective September 2025) and $2,225 per credit for subsequent semesters (effective September 2026). Starting with the 13th semester, adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit. Enrollment in a state‑administered retirement plan, when eligible. Optional enrollment in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage. Employment Conditions Assignments may occur at any of Kean’s New Jersey campuses: Union, Kean Ocean (Toms River), Kean Skylands (Jefferson Township), Kean Jersey City, Kean at Brookdale (Middletown Township), Manahawkin, Princeton, or Trenton. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online courses for Kean Global. New hires must establish a principal residence in New Jersey within 365 days of the effective date of hire, in compliance with the New Jersey First Act.
