Job Title: RN Medical Center - Float Pool Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years MedSurg experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Chest tubes, stable trach management, IV skills, port/central lines, knowledgeable on CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo, foley insertion/care, feeding tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation - Titrating Drips: Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, argatroban Description: This is a Float Pool position. Travelers will be required to float to various units within the facility, including areas serving MedSurg patients. Patient populations include general medical/surgical, oncology (non-chemo administration), and outpatient infusions. Pediatric experience is not required, but some pediatric patients may be present on the floor. Surgical cases include gallbladder, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, and TURPs. Patient ratios are 1:4-6 during days and 1:6 during nights. Required skills include management of chest tubes and stable trach, IV proficiency, and knowledge of cardiac rhythms. Experience with titrating drips is necessary, and familiarity with the EMR system is required. Support roles on the unit include HUC, CNA, charge nurses, and phlebotomy staff. Remote tele-monitoring is available with tele tech coverage. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend, with shifts scheduled 4-6 weeks in advance. Holiday work may be expected for 50% of recognized holidays during a contract. Travelers are expected to wear professional solid-colored scrubs without any graphics or logos.
