Maintenance Supervisor
The Facilities Department is recruiting for a Maintenance Supervisor to plan, organize, and direct the maintenance, repair, preservation, and security/access control functions of City-owned facilities. This position will:
- Direct and supervise the work of skilled employees engaged in the maintenance, operation modification, and repair of City-owned facilities, buildings, structures, pools, and grounds.
- Provide highly complex administrative and technical support to the Facilities Operations & Maintenance Manager, Design & Construction Manager, and Facility Management Division Manager.
- Require someone who possess exceptional customer service and leadership skills.
Classification: Facilities Ops/Maint Supervisor Salary: $89,814.40 - $116,729.60 Annually The City of Eugene determines starting pay within the range based on relevant education and experience as provided by the applicant in their application materials. This process is consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act (OEPA).
Work Location: 210 Cheshire Avenue, Eugene, OR 97401 Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00p.m. with some flexibility per business need

Examples of Duties Performed
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensures safety, cleanliness, and working order of buildings, structures, pools, and grounds; may supervise City-wide operations including custodial, security, carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC/electrical and related operations and maintenance activities; may oversee preventative maintenance and repair activities; inspects the work in progress for quality of workmanship and compliance with specifications; prepares inspection reports; works with Facilities Design & Construction on issues involving new construction, renovation, and preservation; enforces safety rules and regulations; ensures work is compliant with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
- Handles emergency situations after work hours by cell and/or laptop for buildings, structures, and pools. Acts as the point of contact with the 911 Emergency Call Center and/or electronic security systems.
- Evaluates operations and activities of assigned area; recommends improvements and modifications; reviews blueprints, schematics, construction and fire codes, and safety procedures to identify and solve issues and determining the most effective option for completing work; collects data and prepares reports and spreadsheets on operations and activities.
- Conducts crew safety meetings and inspections; coordinates section activities with those of other sections, divisions, departments, and outside agencies; answers questions and provides information to the public; investigates complaints and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints; receives, investigates, and responds to all building and facility maintenance emergencies; is responsible for the safety of the public, buildings, and equipment.
- Develops policies, procedures, processes and methods consistent with division objectives and goals; develops work plans and schedules; sets priorities; attends and serves on a variety of City committees, commissions and task teams.
- Responsible for the selection, supervision and evaluation of assigned staff; assigns work and ensures appropriate training is provided; investigates complaints; recommends and administers disciplinary actions; handles sensitive personnel matters and recommends grievance responses; exercises full supervision over employees.
- Assists in section budget preparation and administration; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations for section and for Capital Improvement Project budget; submits justifications for equipment and supplies, monitors and control expenditures; manages contracts and price agreements; scheduling and managing work and payments to vendors.
- Models respectful working relationships and creates a workplace that supports all employees; supports City leadership in successfully responding to the changing needs of a diverse organization and the commitment to equity and human rights.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as required by management to meet the needs of the department.
- Driver licenses to operate City vehicle to drive to various locations.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience Five years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations and maintenance, including two years of supervisory responsibility or four years of responsible lead worker experience. Education Equivalent to an Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in areas of responsibility or a closely related field. Background Must pass a background check. License Valid Oregon driver's license (or, the ability to obtain by date of hire); must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard.
Supplemental Information
Working Conditions
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Position requires frequent sitting, walking, bending, twisting, and carrying, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. There may be exposure to dust, noise, slippery surfaces, toxic/caustic chemicals, and biological waste hazards. It requires use of hand/power tools, custodial and maintenance equipment, computer, radio, telephone, and general office equipment. The work requires working irregular and flexible hours with attendance at meetings and activities outside of regular working hours and responding to operations and maintenance emergencies after work hours. There will be operation of a motor vehicle on public roads. The work requires wearing safety equipment as mandated.
Bilingual Pay Benefit
This benefit compensates non-represented employees up to 5% of their base salary. To qualify for bilingual pay, the employee must demonstrate fluency in an eligible language and pass a language proficiency test that is administrated by the City's Employee Resource Center division.
Non-Represented Retirement Program
Upon eligibility, the City will contribute an employee contribution of 6%, as well as the employer contribution, to a retirement program administered by the Oregon Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). In addition, the City will pay a 3% contribution to a deferred compensation program if the employee contributes at least 1%.
From January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2034, most retirees may work for a PERS-participating employer for an unlimited number of hours while continuing to receive their pension benefit based on HB 2296. What to Expect from our Selection Process
