State Government Finance and System Project Manager

Job Summary The State Government Finance and System Project Manager leads public‑sector modernization engagements. This role serves as a trusted advisor embedded within state, county, and municipal agencies to drive enterprise software initiatives, business process optimizations, and strategic IT transformations. The Project Manager manages client relationships, directs cross‑functional project teams, and ensures the successful delivery of varying client‑side milestones across multiple simultaneous or sequential engagements. Responsibilities Provide project management support for client project management teams leading software selection, implementations, and system integrations. Handle core systems and staff augmentation roles. Develop, build, and revise procedures and client playbooks for system rollouts. Help protect clients from vendor scope creep and monitor project risks. Oversee documentation, project timelines, and internal and vendor‑facing deliverables. Other duties as required to support changing client needs across different agency engagements. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise, develop, and train Project Manager Associates and Senior Associates. Review and evaluate work of the Associates and Senior Associates. Provide verbal and written performance feedback to Associates and Senior Associates. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s degree, required; focus in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred. Experience Five (5) or more years of experience in project management, required. Familiar with ERP systems & technology implementation best practices (e.g., Infor, Workday, Netsuite, Tyler, OpenGov, etc.), preferred. Experience with State and Local Government, nonprofit, and other highly regulated industries, preferred. License/Certifications CAPM or PMP, required. SmartSheet certifications, preferred. Software Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, required. SmartSheet experience, preferred. SharePoint experience, preferred. Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically business / report writing. Strong analytical and basic research skills. Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details. Ability to successfully multi‑task while working independently or within a group environment. Ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
