Make a positive impact in a self-contained life skills classroom, supporting students who benefit from specialized instruction and care. This contract opportunity near Converse, TX offers a chance to use both your Generalist and Special Education certifications in a dynamic and rewarding setting, working with EC-6th graders in a vital educational role. The position starts as soon as possible and runs through late May 2027.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Texas certifications in both Generalist (EC-6) and Special Education (all levels)—both required
- Previous experience teaching in a self-contained or life skills classroom strongly preferred
- Skilled at adapting curriculum to individual student needs
- Compassionate, patient, and flexible with strong classroom management abilities
- Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to students in a self-contained life skills classroom
- Develop and implement IEPs, monitor progress, and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Create a supportive and structured learning environment fostering growth and independence
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
- Collaborate with aides, therapists, and other support professionals to enhance student success
- Communicate progress with parents and guardians regularly, maintaining open lines of communication
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to legal and ethical guidelines for special education
