Sr Accountant role in Denton with Government Agency who offers outstanding benefits and growth opportunities.
The responsibilities of the role include:
•Administer and coordinate activities of the grant fund operations, which includes developing, monitoring, enhancing, and maintaining all accounting functions related to grant and Project Accounting Systems.
•Perform professional accounting tasks such as maintaining and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting records
•Monitor and record bond project reporting
•Review operations and budget funds to assure compliance with internal policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles
•Perform special projects as assigned, which require a high level of understanding of accounting theory and concepts
•Administer, coordinate, and review cost allocation studies prepared by outside agencies
•Contribute to and/or lead the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
•Guide and support junior accountants.
•Stay current in Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) pronouncements and changes in the accounting profession.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
•Knowledge of fund accounting, Federal and State funding, rate setting, cost-of-service evaluation, create of long-term financial forecasts and planning.
•Skill at the intermediate level, working with applicable Microsoft Office 365 products, and other software systems to complete work.
•Ability to navigate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and automation tools (e.g., Power BI, AI-driven accounting software
