Our brand-new, state-of-the-art senior living community is preparing for our grand opening, and we're building an exceptional culinary team from the ground up. At Belmont Village Rancho Santa Fe, you'll help shape a hospitality-driven dining program focused on exceptional food, service and memorable experiences for our residents and their guests.

As Sous Chef, you'll combine your culinary expertise with hands-on leadership—supporting daily kitchen operations, guiding and developing the culinary team alongside the Chef Manager, and ensuring consistency in quality, preparation and presentation. You'll help execute an extensive made-to-order, restaurant-style menu featuring made-from-scratch dishes, along with Chef-created menus for special events and celebrations throughout the year.

Your Typical Responsibilities

• Supervises kitchen and dining room staff and food production in the absence of the Chef Manager
• Prepare meals from scratch according to assigned recipe specifications and quality standards
• Follow recipes, manage portion control and ensure attractive plate presentation
• Properly manage cook times while preparing and efficiently managing several orders simultaneously
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen ensuring compliance with regulations, policies and procedures
• Follow checklists and company procedures to ensure kitchen is stocked and well maintained at all times
• Make hospitality, customer service, and resident satisfaction your top priorities in every interaction

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Professional, pleasant and team oriented attitude
• Must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written English
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a high volume restaurant setting with supervisory responsibilities
• Proven success with advanced Culinary skills such as knife handling, food preparation and presentation
• Ability to work assigned shifts including early morning, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
• Consistent and reliable attendance is essential for all Belmont Village employees to ensure the successful operation of the community
