Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown Unit position requiring Level II Trauma Center experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Intermediate Care/Stepdown Unit (IMC) within a short-term acute care, Level II Trauma Center hospital
• Patient population requires cardiac drip management, post cath lab procedural care, and trach/vent care
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Weekend commitment of 6 shifts per schedule period
• Floating required between units and possibly between sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• 48-hour work weeks approved

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required, in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required (CPI preferred)
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience required, 2+ years in Progressive Care or Intermediate/Stepdown preferred
• Prior Charge RN experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma, teaching hospital, and community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, ventilator and tracheostomy care, and cardiac dysrhythmia management
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-procedural care for cardiac and respiratory patients
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
• Dress code requires solid navy blue uniforms or scrub attire for licensed nursing staff
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer; limited flexibility afterward
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless accepted as a local candidate at a lower bill rate
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided required experience is met
