Our client, a 20+ year old mortgage bank in Nassau County is currently seeking an experienced Underwriter. This is an opportunity to work for a company that genuinely treats their employees like family. You will have an opportunity to truly provide your own input and have autonomy. Additionally, they offer a ton of growth opportunity.
In addition to a generous base salary, the company provides great health insurance, they offer 401k with a company match, generous PTO and the opportunity to work with a group of down-to-earth, laid-back professionals. There is minimal staff turnover, most employees have worked at the company for over 15 years

Job Function:
- Responsible for consistent and accurate underwriting as required by bank
- Underwrite various mortgage loan products
- Verify accuracy of supporting employment verification, credit strength, assets, and all other information pertinent to the credit decision process
- Ensures mortgages meet agency requirements to obtain mortgage insurance certificate
- Confers with mortgage processors regarding loan qualification parameters
- Make loan decisions in a timely manner
- Approves loans based on the amounts established in the current lending policy
- 4+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
- Have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Extremely driven to meet deadlines
- Possess professional and leadership qualities
- Ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to make credit recommendations
- Meet production, quality, and service standards
- Self-motivated
- Have the ability to work independently; producing results in a timely manner.
Have strong knowledge of documentation types, loan programs and underwriting guidelines. - Must possess strong organization skills.
