Noah’s Ark Humane Society is seeking a veterinarian passionate about animal welfare to join our growing nonprofit veterinary program in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. This is an ideal opportunity for a semi-retired veterinarian seeking meaningful work, schedule flexibility, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on animal welfare in an underserved rural community. Noah’s Ark Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to reduce preventable animal suffering, shelter overcrowding, and euthanasia by making essential veterinary care accessible to families and animal welfare organizations throughout Appalachia. Our programs include: Affordable spay/neuter surgery Preventive and wellness care Shelter medicine support Affordable dentistry Partnerships with regional animal welfare groups Position: Part-Time Veterinarian 1–2 days per week (flexible scheduling) Responsibilities may include: Spay/neuter surgery Wellness examinations Preventive care Community medicine Flexible scheduling Experienced support staff Mission-driven work with measurable impact Help people who are eternally grateful Opportunity to help shape a growing nonprofit program Qualifications: DVM or VMD degree Eligible for North Carolina veterinary licensure Surgical experience preferred Shelter medicine and/or high-volume spay/neuter experience welcomed but not required New approaches and creative solutions encouraged Compensation: Competitive daily rate based on experience. Location: Franklin, North Carolina Located in the heart of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, Franklin offers beautiful surroundings, exceptional outdoor recreation, and easy access to Asheville, Knoxville, Atlanta, and Greenville.
