Public Defender Paralegal

Responsibilities The purpose of the class is to provide responsible, confidential, and complex paralegal support to the Circuit Defender and other department attorneys and staff; to provide case management and other specialized duties to expedite the judicial process and to ensure efficient and effective case administration, and to perform related secretarial and clerical work as assigned. The class is given a general outline of work to be performed and is free to develop work methods and sequences, with periodic review by supervisor. Qualifications Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in legal studies or a closely related field; requires over three years of experience.
