Requires a Legal Assistant with proven experience for a small, but extremely busy well established Western Morris County municipal criminal and civil litigation law firm. Knowledge of the procedures involved in these areas of law is a must!
Bilingual in English / Spanish (conversational is acceptable) is a huge plus!
Legal Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
- Gather and research for cases, including client employment, financial and medical records, and other legal documentation
- Draw up legal documents such as appeals, complaints, discovery requests, motions, pretrial agreements, subpoenas, and summonses
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail
- Schedule meetings and appointments
- Maintain organized files, including copies of all documents and correspondence
Qualifications :
- 3+ years of administrative experience in the legal field
- Record of ethical conduct and ensuring client confidentiality
- Excellent research, communication, and organizational skills
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office and legal software including Ecourts
- Exceptional organizational and time- management skills
- Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
- High level of professionalism, with a proactive and customer-service-oriented approach.
- A team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with fellow staff members and diverse individuals.
