Assistant Football Coach

Class Purpose Under general direction, the Assistant Football Coach assists inall aspects of the District's intercollegiate football program.Responsibilities may include coaching student-athletes, supportingrecruitment and retention efforts, promoting academic success,ensuring compliance with California Community College AthleticAssociation (3C2A), conference, District, and College regulations,and fostering a positive, inclusive student-athleteexperience. Examples of Duties Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices,conditioning sessions, and competitions. Provide position-specific instruction and skilldevelopment. Monitor and encourage student-athletes' academic progress,retention, and eligibility. Promote sportsmanship, ethical conduct, teamwork, and studentdevelopment. Assist with game preparation, scouting, practice planning, andplayer evaluation. Support team travel, equipment management, inventory, andfacility preparation. Promote a safe environment and follow appropriate riskmanagement practices. Maintain required certifications and complete mandated Districttraining. Collaborate effectively with faculty, counseling, athletictraining staff, and student services personnel to supportstudent-athlete success. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accreditedcollege or university and two years of professional experience, OR Possession of an Associate's degree and six years ofprofessional experience. Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverseacademic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnicbackgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff andcommunity. Supplemental Information Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as established bythe California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Applicantsare required to demonstrate that they meet the minimumqualifications by submitting official or unofficial transcripts andproviding a complete and detailed record of relevant professionalwork experience in their application materials. The District will review education and work history to determinewhether minimum qualifications are met. Determinations are made inaccordance with Title 5 regulations and District procedures.Official transcripts and additional verification of employment will be required upon offer of employment.
