Job Title: PCU RN

Must-Have: ICU and/or PCU-Stepdown experience. Vent experience preferred.


Description:
Department: PCU RN.


Common diagnoses include anything post-ICU, post-shock, post-stroke, pneumonia, CHF, and respiratory failure for weaning or unweaning pending tracheostomy placement.


Nurse to Patient Ratios are 1:4 in the PCU.


Nurses are required to titrate various drips including nicardipine, pressors, fentanyl, and heparin.


Charge Nurse is available but does not take patient assignment unless needed.


Support staff includes patient care technicians, with typical staffing for 5.


Job duties include taking vitals, providing A.M./P.M. care, restocking supplies, and bladder scanning.


Nurses will manage respiratory equipment, such as CPAP, BiPAP, and vents.


Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry and communicate changes with physicians.


Scheduling consists of 12-hour shifts, requiring availability for every other weekend.


Holiday rotation may be required.


There is no call or standby requirement.


Floating may occur between various units as deemed necessary.


Scrub color is royal blue.

Unit-specific orientation is provided with a preceptor.
