In this role, you will own the full hardware lifecycle-from requirements analysis and architecture definition through qualification, production, and long-term sustainment. You will design analog and digital circuits for harsh environments, run detailed simulations, and lead design reviews that balance performance, cost, and risk. Your work will span power conversion, motor control, and high-speed communication interfaces, all while meeting stringent military standards like MIL-STD-461 and DO-160. This is not a siloed position; you will collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and mentors to ensure every design is producible and reliable.

The ideal candidate brings more than a list of tools. We need someone who can lay out a high-voltage PWB that passes EMI compliance on the first try, weigh the tradeoffs between SiC and GaN devices, and explain Z-domain control theory to a junior engineer. You hold a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (M.S. preferred), with seven or more years of hands-on experience in power electronics, analog/digital circuit design, and thermal/radiation analysis. Deep knowledge of communication protocols-CAN, RS-485, Ethernet-and a proven ability to perform worst-case, FMEA, and stress analyses are essential. Non-Negotiables

• You must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's is preferred
• You must have at least seven years of professional experience in analog and digital circuit design, including A/D conversion, processors, microcontrollers, I/O, and communications
• You must possess deep expertise in power electronics with MOSFET, IGBT, SiC, and GaN devices
• You must have proven experience with DC/DC converters and a strong working knowledge of MIL-STD-1275/704, DO-160, and MIL-STD-461 compliance
• You must be skilled in performing thermal, electrical stress, worst-case, tolerance, aging, FMEA, EMI, and radiation (SEU, TID) analyses
• You must be proficient with multiple communication protocols: CAN, RS-232/422/485, SPI, JTAG, PCI/PCIe, and 1G/10G Ethernet
• You must be able to work onsite in Ronkonkoma, New York, on a daily basis, and you must not require sponsorship

Responsibilities

• You will provide technical leadership across the full product lifecycle, from initial requirements and architecture through qualification, production, and sustainment
• You will perform innovative analog and digital hardware design, analysis, simulation, and verification for harsh-environment applications
• You will develop clear design requirements, create thorough documentation, and present designs at formal technical reviews
• You will optimize complex design tradeoffs involving performance, cost, schedule, and risk
• You will support manufacturing, suppliers, and legacy products through hands-on troubleshooting and detailed analysis
• You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to proposals and cost estimates, and support technical hiring decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred
• Strong PWB layout skills for high-power, high-voltage, and EMI-compliant designs will distinguish you
• Experience with motor control, control theory, and Z-domain analysis is highly valued
• Familiarity with Clark and Park transforms and sensor interfaces such as LVDT, resolvers, and encoders adds depth
• Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools like LT-Spice, P-Spice, OrCAD, Allegro, and MATLAB/Simulink is a definite plus
• A background in defense or aerospace environments, especially with knowledge of radiation effects and SEU/TID analysis, is an advantage
