Project Safe Case Manager

Position Title: Project Safe Case Manager Department: Social Services Supervised By: Project Safe Program Coordinator Location: Alpine / Campo / La Posta Status: Hourly / Non-exempt Posted: June 2026 Closing Date: Until Filled Compensation: $25.00 - $30.50/hr. DOE Grant: Grant Funded Hours: Full time, Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM; time may vary to meet the needs of the Clinic, including evenings and weekends General Statement Of Responsibilities Project Safe Case Manager coordinates with the SIHC Project Safe Program Coordinator, provides supervised visitations, coordination of workshops for community, oversees Transitional Housing/ emergency shelter services. Working mainly with clients/victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking or stalking. Provides case management, advocacy, counseling referrals, tracking of case notes, and staff training. Responsible for overseeing all case management related activities to ensure that safe, appropriate, effective services are provided following approved protocols. Responsible for ensuring that a safe, secure, and supportive environment is maintained, upholding the importance of confidentiality of each client. This works closely with the Indian Community and other management staff in carrying out the program, services, functions, and activities (PSFAs) of the department. Specific Duties And Responsibilities Responsible for following all SIHC safety policies and procedures during work hours; up to and including the responsibilities of conducting supervised visits/exchanges and coordination with partnering agencies. Document visits/exchanges/phone calls with clients and referral agencies. Provide security measures to ensure safety for all program participants, visitors, staff, and within the immediate vicinity of Program facilities. Responsible for thorough understanding of the Program and its requirements, including funding parameters and reporting requirements. Responsible for maintaining client files and documenting all client interactions in a professional and timely manner. Responsible for collaborating with all other SIHC departments. Responsible for initiating, maintaining, and fostering collaboration with other service providers, including but not limited to: San Diego County Court, San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, San Diego County School Districts in the immediate area of the SIHC service area, and SIHC providers, County providers, and nonprofit providers in the region. Responsible for working with the Project Safe Program Coordinator in ongoing program evaluation/data collection, developing activities, compiling monthly statistics and reports for the Project Safe Program Coordinator that support the awarded grant. Responsible for working closely with the Project Safe Program Coordinator to budget, monitor costs, communicate needs, accomplishments, and developments, and for participating in ongoing quality assessment. Responsible for meeting with all clients assigned by the Project Safe Program Coordinator to assess case management needs and provide a thorough care plan including service referrals and plan for “warm hand-offs,” if required. Working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, Department of Mental Health, Department of Social Services, and other state, federal regulations. Responsible for outreach activities to include representing SIHC and Project Safe during community events and educational activities. Understanding of the Award Terms and Conditions as well as the scope of the grant. Ability to work a flexible schedule may be required based on need. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have experience working with adults and/or children who are victims of domestic violence/ intimate partner abuse. Provide certificate of a completed 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training or complete the training within 90 days of hiring. Familiar with the relation of California Indians to the California courts. Education, training, and/or experience, which clearly demonstrates possession of the knowledge and skills stated above. Must be 18 years of age or older. Licenses/Certifications A valid California driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Applicant must be insurable under SIHC vehicle insurance policy at the time of hire and throughout employment. Certifications and/or licenses appropriate to the positions required education and profession must also be valid and maintained. Character Applicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment, accept administrative supervision, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, including the ability to interact effectively and communicate with people in a professional and courteous manner. Must be highly confidential and respect confidentiality to all limits of the governing laws and ethics. Applicant must be able to work as a team with other staff. Applicant should be sensitive to client’s needs and knowledgeable about the local Indian community. Physical and Personal Requirements Normal clinic/office environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs., repetitive hand movement; use and view PC. Reliable transportation and car insurance as required by the state. Travel as needed. Compliance Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture at SIHC. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all SIHC policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory, and generally have a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All SIHC employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations. Other Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the field of Social Services, and the treatments, policies and procedures relating to the provision of those services. Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam, tuberculin skin test or x-ray, and blood/urine drug screening test. Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position. Applicants must complete a SIHC application and submit it to Human Resources prior to the close dates indicated. The position is co-located at the Alpine and Campo Clinics. Indian Preference INDIAN PREFERENCE: In the filling of any SIHC job vacancy, preference may be given to qualified Native American Indians, pursuant to the Indian Preference Hiring Act, 25 USC 472, unless other laws require the filling of a vacancy without regard to Indian preference (e.g. Public Law (P.L.) 94-437, “Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA). To receive Indian preference for any SIHC position, the applicant must be enrolled, or be eligible for enrollment, as an American Indian with their Tribe, or must be certified as an American Indian from the designated Tribal Representative. Applicants claiming Indian preference must attach verification of their claim to the SIHC application, including Certification of form BIA-4432, which is available from the SIHC Human Resources Department. If verification is not or cannot be verified, the applicant will not receive Indian preference for purposes of the interview.
