Mental Health Specialist

Mental Health Specialist - Behavioral Health Call Center
We are seeking a compassionate Mental Health Specialist to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and care coordination to individuals facing behavioral health challenges. This role ensures callers receive timely, empathetic, and effective support.

Responsibilities

• Answer crisis helpline and provide support to callers
• Conduct screenings and risk assessments (e.g., suicide risk, substance use)
• De-escalate crises and develop safety plans
• Connect individuals to appropriate services and community resources
• Make clinical decisions, including dispatching emergency services when needed
• Provide referrals and follow-up to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
• Educate and advocate for clients' needs

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
• NYS LMSW or LMHC required
• 2+ years of experience in behavioral health or crisis intervention
• Strong clinical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle high-stress situations professionally
• Experience with EHR systems and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred

• Knowledge of NYC/Rockland County services and systems of care
• Familiarity with OMH, OPWDD, and OASAS standards
• Call center or telehealth experience

Pay Rate: $45 per hour
Schedule: 3PM-11PM Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday
